A north Fulton woman is accused of paying for vacations, plastic surgery, rent and college tuition with money she stole from her employer, Alpharetta police said.

Heather B. Jaquith, of Milton, is accused of stealing nearly $230,000 from Scan Scat Technologies, where she worked for several years, according to a police report. The company’s owner became suspicious when Jaquith allegedly locked him out of the accounting software, the report states.

But after looking through the company’s financial transactions, company leaders discovered hundreds of unauthorized transactions allegedly made by Jaquith and contacted police.

“Jaquith stole approximately $227,164.33 from Scan Stat Technologies by making unauthorized charges on a company debit card, using company checks to pay for personal debts, paying herself more salary than she was supposed to get, and wiring herself money directly from the Scan Stat account,” the police report states.

In April 2013, Jaquith allegedly stole more than $20,000 by writing seven checks, issuing herself her payroll deposit twice, paying rent and using the company’s debit card 25 times, according to police. During the summer of 2013, Jaquith allegedly paid for her daughter’s college tuition, cruises, plastic surgery and a Mercedes using the company’s money, the report states.

Through her attorney, Jaquith allegedly offered to repay the company, but the owner instead decided to press charges. Jaquith surrendered Jan. 14 and was charged with theft by taking, identity fraud and computer theft, police said. She was released the same day after posting $25,000 bond, records show.

Jaquith’s attorney declined to comment on the case when contacted Thursday by Channel 2 Action News.
