Good: Bailing your girlfriend out of jail.

Bad: Doing so while reeking of marijuana.

Worst: Doing so with marijuana and a stolen firearm in your car.

Dunwoody police say 22-year-old Ledarius Carmichael did all of the above late Monday. His alleged actions irked them so much — or perhaps gave them enough of a chuckle — that they posted a tongue-in-cheek public service announcement on Facebook.

“Trust me,” the post said, “we can’t make this up.”

According to a report from WAGA-TV, officers noted an “extremely strong smell of marijuana” when Carmichael showed up to bail out his girlfriend. Police then went to his car and found marijuana and “a loaded gun in plain view.”

Carmichael was reportedly permitted to get his girlfriend out of jail before being taken there himself. He was charged with theft by receiving, marijuana possession and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

As of Wednesday morning, he remained in custody.
