A 40-year-old Clayton County man is accused of killing a man, then attempting to conceal the death, police said Thursday.

Officers were called late Tuesday night to Misty Meadows Court near Hampton following a report that a man had been shot, according to Sgt. Kevin Hughes with Clayton County police.

But police were initially unable to find a perpetrator or victim, Hughes said. Witnesses told police the alleged shooter left the area in a gray Toyota Tundra.

“Officers along with detectives were checking the area and a couple of hours later, a detective located the gray Toyota Tundra in an undeveloped subdivision,” Hughes said in an emailed statement Thursday afternoon. “In the driver’s seat, was Donnell Sandifer and in the rear of the truck was a deceased male, Leanda Rowland.”

Police did not release information about a possible motive.

Sandifer was arrested and charged with murder, concealing a death, tampering with evidence, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to police. He was being held without bond Thursday night in the Clayton County jail.
