A Gwinnett County man is in jail after repeatedly calling 911 to make threats and falsely claim he needed medical attention, officials said.

Aaron Tyler Norman, 33, was arrested Monday and charged with false statements, terroristic threats and transmitting false alarm and three counts of requesting an ambulance when not required. Gwinnett County police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said Norman called her department’s 911 center at least 14 times between April 17 and 25.

In various calls, Norman reportedly claimed an apartment building was on fire, made bomb threats and said he had a gun. Police said he also told dispatchers that “mother (expletive) better get over to Marquis at Sugarloaf because somebody’s about to get shot.”

That call led a detective to begin his investigation at the Marquis at Sugarloaf Apartments near Duluth, where it was discovered that Norman had recently been evicted, officials said. Charges were filed after “a source close to Norman was able to confirm that it was his voice on the 911 audio recordings,” Pihera said.

Gwinnett County jail records show Norman is currently being held without bond. In addition to charges related to his alleged 911 calls, he is also facing one count of burglary from an unrelated incident.
