NC company recalls more than 28 tons of 'hot stuffed sandwiches'
A North Carolina-based company has recalled more than 28 tons of "hot stuffed sandwiches" nationwide, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service.
J&J Snack Foods Handhelds Corp., based in Holly Ridge, recalled approximately 56,578 pounds of the products produced between Feb. 19 and Feb. 20 that may be contaminated with semitransparent plastic, the FSIS announced Friday.
The FSIS warned consumers not to eat the ham-and-cheese and pepperoni sandwiches, which are packaged and sold in 9-ounce carton packages.
The following products are subject to the recall:
- 9-ounce carton packages containing two stuffed pepperoni sandwiches with "Bremer Classic Pepperoni Pizza Hot Stuffed Sandwiches," best if used by "Aug, 12m 2020," or "Aug. 13, 2020" on the label.
- 9-ounce carton packages containing two ham-and-cheese sandwiches with "Bremer Classic Ham & Cheese Hot Stuffed Sandwiches," best if used by "Aug. 12, 2020," or "Aug. 13, 2020."
According to the USDA news release, the products recalled have establishment number "Est. 27231" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
