After a chilly start Friday morning, temperatures are finally above freezing.

Temperatures were 46 degrees in Atlanta, 42 degrees in Blairsville and 47 degrees in Griffin just before 3 p.m.

“As you make your plans for today,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said, “clouds will continue to increase.”

But the more noticeable weather feature will be precipitation.

In northeast Georgia, light freezing rain or drizzle is possible overnight.

“I don’t expect it to have much impact,” Nitz said. “But it’s something we’ll have to watch very carefully.”

Metro Atlanta won’t have to worry about that. Temperatures are expected to increase to the 60s this weekend and will stay above freezing levels, according  to Channel 2.

There is a 40 percent chance of precipitation Saturday and a 90 percent chance Sunday.
