Cobb County police reported Tuesday that they learned that a victim of a crash last week had died after being taken off life support.

Police are still investigating why 18-year-old Christopher M. Metroka of Rydal drove his 1991 Mazda MX-5 off of I-75 when he was traveling north Wednesday, Sgt. Dana Pierce of Cobb police said.

The accident happened just north of Wade Green Road in Kennesaw. Metroka crossed two left northbound travel lanes before going down the western median shoulder and into a tree line, Pierce said.

Metroka was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of his serious injuries. He died Thursday.

Anyone with information about the crash should call the Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. Unit at 770-499-3987.
