Cobb police are investigating an apparent homicide Thursday night near Austell.
Investigators said Eric Lee Collins, 31, of Austell, tried to enter a house on Malvin Drive after he was told not to do so.
When he did, Collins grabbed the gun of the homeowner’s son. As he did, the weapon discharged, striking him in the chest.
No charges are expected to be filed in this case, but police said anyone who has information about it can call 770 499-3945.
