U.S. Marshals in Miami have arrested the Cobb County man accused in a deadly shooting at an Austell-area apartment complex, police said Monday.

Orain Patterson, 27, was taken into custody without incident in northern Miami, Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb police said. Patterson is expected to be returned to Georgia, where he’ll be booked into the Cobb jail.

Police were called to the Walton Crossing Apartments on Mulkey Road at 7:23 a.m. Saturday. Inside an apartment, officers found Tavin E. Campbell, 24, of Marietta, dead from an apparent gunshot wound, according to police.

Several hours later, police identified Patterson as a suspect in the homicide. But he eluded capture until Monday. No information about a possible motive for the killing has been been released.

Patterson was previously convicted of aggravated assault in Cobb County, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Anyone with information on the current case that may assist detectives is asked to call 770-499-3945.
