A Cobb County man was sentenced Tuesday to 40 years for shooting two people at a house party in March 2013.

William Dennis Devore, 43, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault, according to a news release Wednesday from the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office.

Devore was at a party at his neighbor’s house on Milford Church Lane when he fired a .22-caliber handgun at a man and a woman shortly after an argument between the woman and Devore’s wife. Though both victims survived, the woman was shot twice in the face, and the man was shot once in the face, once in the head and twice in the body, authorities said.

Devore fled the party after the shooting, but was arrested hours later in Franklin County, Ga. He had no prior convictions and worked as an aircraft mechanic at Lockheed at the time, according to prosecutors.

He was sentenced Tuesday to serve 20 years in custody and the rest on probation.
