Saturday’s blue skies should last through the afternoon, although the same can’t be said of the traffic.

Although major roads remained relatively clear Saturday morning, a 3:30 p.m. kick-off between Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia will likely cause increasing delays on the Downtown Connector in Atlanta.

City streets near Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium won’t be much better, as game-day crowds compete in the afternoon with shoppers headed to nearby Atlantic Station in Midtown.

Downtown, Georgia State has a 2 p.m. kick-off against South Alabama at the Georgia Dome.

On the plus side, state transportation officials have limited or canceled all road work on interstates and major state highways until Sunday night for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The weather will also provide a pick-me-up: The skies should stay relatively clear through the afternoon. Saturday’s high will reach 50 degrees, with some clouds drifting through the metro area late in the afternoon, according to Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz.
