Firefighters believe a cigarette may have sparked a fire that burned several units of a Midtown apartment complex Friday night.

No injuries were reported when the two-alarm blaze broke out shortly after 6 p.m. at the Chalet Apartments on Inwood Circle in northeast Atlanta.

But some residents were unable to rescue pets from the fire, which appeared at to start in a third-floor unit. Some cats were still missing late Friday.
