Day in and day out, the compassion and kindness nurses provide to their patients is immeasurable. But the latest gesture from the employees at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta goes above and beyond the call.

A group of staffers came together to partner with Rachel's Gift, a nonprofit in McDonough that helps grieving parents with after-life staff training and memory-making resources. By donating their wedding dresses, they are helping provide handmade bereavement attire.
The nurses wrote about their experience in a blog post and posted it to the CHOA Facebook page this week. So far, the reception has been positive. The upload has received more than 1,500 likes and 300 shares.
And many family members have already shown their appreciation.
On Facebook, one parent commented, “As a mom who lost her son in the [Children’s] NICU and received one of these gowns, THANK YOU. Thank you to the nurses who took footprints and pictures when I couldn’t. Thank you to the woman who donated her beautiful wedding dress. And thank you to the hands that sewed a perfectly tiny gown for my perfectly tiny baby. It truly is a comfort during the worst possible time.”
