Forsyth County was Georgia’s fastest-growing county last year, with its population expanding by 4 percent between 2012 and 2013, a new census report shows.

In all, Forsyth added 7,478 new residents during that period.

Gwinnett County came in sixth place at 2.2 percent, adding 18,729 residents, more than any other county in the state. Cobb County followed Gwinnett with 9,913. Fulton remains the most populous of Georgia’s 159 counties with 984,293 residents.

The figures are based on annual U.S. Census population estimates for each of the nation’s counties.
