Parking scofflaws beware: Canton’s long-on-hold downtown parking enforcement program will start Nov. 10.

Police will start enforcing two-hour parking limits and other restrictions along Main and North streets. Enforcement had been planned to start Oct. 1, but was held up for several weeks due to a downtown streetscape project.

Police spokesman Pacer Cordry says the fines will start at $10 and escalate from there. He says around 450 warning tickets were issued during the October portion of the grace period, with more than 500 handed out in September.

The city had backed off ticketing for some months due to a combination of manpower issues and a pending downtown parking study.
