Universal Orlando Resort announced Tuesday afternoon that it would begin its partial reopening Thursday with its Universal CityWalk opening for limited hours.
Like Disney resorts and dozens of other attractions across the world, Universal Studios shut down its park in March to curb the spread of COVID-19. In its announcement Tuesday, the park states the partial reopening of the popular CityWalk will be done with the state and national guidelines in mind.
“The health and safety of our guests and team members remains our top priority and we are taking specific measures that include screening our guests and team members, social distancing an requiring everyone to wear a face covering,” read a statement from the resort.
The reopening will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 14, and the park will limit hours to 4 -10 p.m. daily, according to the statement.
The following venues will reopen Thursday:
Restaurants:
Auntie Anne’s Pretzels
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurant and Market
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville (outside & Lone Palm)
Red Oven Pizza Bakery mobile ordering available
Voodoo Doughnut mobile ordering available
Shopping:
Airbrush
Hart & Huntington Tattoo Company (retail only)
Universal Studios Store and select merchandise carts
Entertainment:
Hollywood Drive-In Golf
Reservations are recommended and the restaurants are slated to have limited menus.
The announcement comes one day after Shanghai Disneyland became one of the first major theme parks to reopen after the global shut down of such attractions due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The House of Mouse is the first of the Chinese theme park’s experiences to reopen, with similar requirements as Universal. That park also requires masks, limits visitors and will be checking temperatures of all who come to the park.
