Storms have swept the Deep South over the last 24 hours in parts of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida, leaving behind power outages in more than 20,000 homes. According to an earlier AJC report, at least two people were injured when an apparent tornado struck southwest Alabama, but the region has been safe from the monster twisters and hail storms that have typically hit the area.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected in various parts of eastern Georgia Thursday.
