Two construction workers whose boom truck became inoperable while they were lifted 100 feet in the air were rescued by Atlanta firefighters Monday afternoon.

The truck malfunctioned as the workers were lifted alongside the Reverb hotel on Centennial Olympic Park Drive near State Farm Arena, Atlanta Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Alyssa Richardson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The two workers were safely taken down from the raised bucket, while the truck was left with the equipment rental company that owns it.

Boom trucks, also called bucket trucks, are often used to work on trees and power lines by lifting workers to varying heights. The Reverb by Hard Rock is less than a year old and is highly visible thanks to its prominent downtown location and an exterior wall dedicated to a large advertising billboard.

Though traffic was never halted along Centennial Park Drive, the road is clear now that the construction workers have been brought down, Richardson said.
