A man was found shot to death Friday morning at a northwest Atlanta home, police said.

Officials responded to the 2600 block of Baker Street about 1:45 a.m. and found the 30-year-old shot to death in the doorway, Lt. Ralph Woolfolk, commander of the Atlanta Police Department’s homicide unit, said.

He was later identified Torrence Adams by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office. Adams did not live in the house, but police are still working to determine what led up to the shooting, according to Woolfolk.

“At this point, we’re still in the early stages of the investigation. We have located a substantial amount of ballistic evidence on the city street,” Woolfolk said.

Authorities have also been able to acquire surveillance video and footage from neighbors that might be helpful in the investigation.

A car parked in front of the home had a bullet hole through the front windshield as well as a flat tire due to gunfire. Police have not said why the car was shot or who it belongs to.
