A Walmart in McDonough was evacuated Friday afternoon after a customer passed a note to a store associate threatening a bomb, police said.

Authorities emptied the store on Willow Lane shortly after noon. No device was located during a search, according to McDonough police spokesman Maj. Kyle Helgerson.

“A note was passed by a customer,” he said. “We don’t think the note was credible at this point. We took the precautions we felt were necessary based on the information we had at the time.”

Helgerson said the store would be reopened to employees and customers later Friday afternoon.
