Police in Gainesville shut down part of a busy intersection Monday morning while they investigated a crash that killed a pedestrian.

Georgia Morgan, 52, was hit and killed at the intersection of McEver Road and Browns Bridge Road about 6:15 a.m. The intersection was closed for three hours during the investigation, according to police spokesman Lt. Kevin Holbrook.

The case is still open, but Holbrook said they do not anticipate any charges.

“For unknown reasons the pedestrian was in the roadway, not in a crosswalk,” he said. “The driver stayed on scene and assisted with the investigation.”

There are multiple businesses in the area, including a Walmart.
