23-year-old woman dies from internal injuries days after Cobb crash

July 15, 2019

One week  after getting in a two-vehicle crash in Cobb County, a 23-year-old woman died from internal injuries, police said.

Danielle Lawson, of Powder Springs, was turning her 2019 Chevrolet Van from Hicks Road onto Hurt Road just before 9 p.m. July 7, Cobb police said in a news release. Crash investigators said she turned in front of a 2013 Ford F-150, causing the two vehicles to collide in the intersection.

Lawson and the other driver did not report any injuries at the scene of the wreck, and neither went to the hospital, the release said. However, Lawson began “exhibiting signs of medical distress” at her home on Friday.

She was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where she died Sunday from medical complications of internal injuries she sustained during the crash, the release said.

The crash remains under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 770-499-3987.
