The crash happened about 8:40 p.m. Saturday near the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Drive, according to Atlanta police spokesman Officer James White.

The girl was crossing a roadway when the car hit her, he said. She was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition. White said she was not conscious, but was still breathing.
