The 16-year-old accused of killing a classmate at Charles Drew High School surrendered late Wednesday, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said.

Stanley Dixon is accused of shooting and killing Cedric Clark on Nov. 2, according to police. Clark, 17, was found dead behind a home where he didn't live, the fifth young person in Clayton County to die from gunfire in a month.

Dixon has been charged with murder and aggravated assault. But earlier Wednesday, police called Dixon a fugitive and asked for help in locating him.

Clark, an 11th grader, loved sports and was a loyal friends to others, his brother told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“He was the one that talked sense into people,” Anthony Lewis, Cedric’s brother, said the day after his death. “And he was only 17. When he said he was going to do something for you, he did it.”

Dixon was believed to to be with his father, Stanley Brooks, who is a convicted armed robber and drug dealer known to be armed, according to Sheriff Victor Hill. Late Wednesday, Brooks brought his son to surrender.
