An unconscious woman was pulled from a burning apartment in southeast Atlanta on Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.

The woman, who suffered from smoke inhalation, was rescued from a back bedroom, given CPR and taken to a local hospital, Atlanta fire spokesman Sgt. Cortez Stafford said.

The fire began in a unit of the Trestletree Village apartments off United Avenue shortly after 3 p.m., authorities said.

It’s unclear what started the blaze, but firefighters were able to extinguish it quickly and keep it from spreading to adjacent apartments, Stafford said.

“It was just contained to the one unit,” he said. “It didn’t get that far.”

Stafford said Sunday the woman appears to be in good condition. She was speaking with firefighters at the hospital.

“It’s a good rescue and recovery for our guys, who were able to get in there quickly,” he said.
