A woman is accused of stealing identities to forge checks and police hope newly released surveillance footage can help them get her off the street.

Investigators say the woman has been IDs and money in several counties, including Cobb, Gwinnett and Rockdale.

One victim, 44-year-old Naomi Jerome, lost about $200 in cash, her insurance card, multiple credit cards, her children’s social security cards and other items when the woman broke into her car, according to an incident report from Powder Springs police.

Jerome told Channel 2 Action News her purse and all of its contents were taken when she went for a run on the Powder Springs Trail and left them in her vehicle.

According to Powder Springs Detective Brett Gloyd, the woman used Jerome’s social security card to cash a check that had been stolen from Rockdale. She also used a stolen Smyrna ID to cash a check for $1,300 from Jerome’s account, Gloyd told AJC.com.

Additional stolen checks were cashed in Austell and Hiram.

“Everyday she is out there and more people are going to be victims because of her,” Gloyd told Channel 2.

While the investigation is ongoing, police advise residents to be cautious of what they leave in their vehicles.

“Don’t leave things out where they can be seen in the car,” Gloyd said. “That seems to be a common thread, where a wallet or purse is visible on the floor of the car.”

Anyone with information about the suspect or reports of similar crimes is asked to contact the Powder Springs Police Department at 770-943-1616.
