Four months after a violent attempted carjacking in Woodstock, police arrested an Atlanta man Tuesday.
Kenneth Otis Bethea Jr., 29, attempted to steal a vehicle at The Heights at Towne Lake Apartments in early February, police said. He pointed a handgun at the occupants of the vehicle, smashing out the front passenger window.
Bethea tried to enter the vehicle before the occupants drove away and also fired a handgun into the air, according to police.
Investigators issued warrants for Bethea in February, but only after an incident in Fannin County this week were police able to locate him.
The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office took Bethea into custody Tuesday. He has been transferred to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
He is charged with aggravated assault, criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm during certain crimes, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and attempted hijacking of a motor vehicle.
