Video shows Fulton County deputy slap, hit man outside Midtown club

Sept 1, 2019

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a deputy was caught on camera punching a man outside a Midtown club, Channel 2 Action News reported.

A cellphone video shows the altercation between the deputy and the man. The uniformed deputy seems to push the man away from a lounge along Spring Street and slap him, Channel 2 reported.

Later, the deputy appears to run across the street and hit the man again, this time wearing a white tank top.

At one point in the video, the deputy seems to be beating the man while he is on the ground. A second deputy can be seen pulling him off the man, Channel 2 reported with its coverage of the video.

The Sheriff's Office has not identified the deputy in the fight or said if he will face any discipline, the news station reported.

"Deputies are held to a higher standard and are expected to respond professionally to all incidents,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “This agency never condones any form of misconduct."
