After being shot inside a car Tuesday afternoon, two men drove for about a mile before stopping for help off Martin Luther King Drive, according to police.

Both were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where one later died, Officer John Chafee with Atlanta police said. The second man was in critical but stable condition Tuesday night, Chafee said. A third man in the vehicle was not injured.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office identified the dead man as Andre Moore, 19, of Stone Mountain. The name of the wounded man has not been released.

Investigators believe the double shooting happened in the 400 block of Paines Avenue before the victims drove to Martin Luther King Drive, where officers and paramedics arrived just before 5:30 p.m., Chafee said.

The car came to a stop near the intersection with Paschal Avenue and the landmark Busy Bee restaurant.

Homicide detectives were investigating both crime scenes Tuesday night.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact homicide detectives at 404-546-4235 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
