A man stabbed his stepfather multiple times as the dad arrived to pick up the stepson from work, officials said.

Murray County sheriff’s office spokesman Det. Brett Morrison said they don’t know why Cesar Perez Mondragon, 27, allegedly stabbed his stepfather, the Dalton Daily Citizen reported.

The attack happened about 6 p.m. Thursday outside Mondragon’s job, Associated Tufting in Chatsworth, the paper reported. Once Mondragon got inside his stepdad’s car, he began stabbing him with a knife.

Morrison said witnesses pulled Mondragon off his stepfather and detained them. The victim’s name was not released.

Mondragon faces aggravated assault charges, but they could be upgraded to attempted murder, Morrison told the newspaper.
