Smyrna police said Monday they believe the shooting deaths of a man and a woman found in a townhouse after a 12-hour standoff with SWAT officers was a murder-suicide.

According to police, Jessica Arrendale, 33, died of a gunshot to the head and Antoine Davis, 30, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

A 5-month-old child was found alive in the townhome and was treated for hypothermia and released to the custody of the Division of Family and Children Services.

Police were called to the townhouse in the 6200 block of Sawtooth Oak Court shortly after midnight Sunday and were made aware that there was a person inside the home who might be armed and might be holding a hostage. They entered the townhome around 1:30 p.m. Sunday to find the two dead adults and the baby.
