Police are investigating a shooting death after two people were gunned down Saturday in a vehicle in southwest Atlanta, the Atlanta Police Department said.

The victims drove to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding a couple miles from the reported location of the incident and were then taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Police said one victim died at the hospital and the other indicated that the shooting occurred near the intersection of McDaniel and Glenn streets.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said the victim who died was shot in the head. Police said the other was shot in the chest.

The deceased had been identified by Sunday morning but his next of kin had not yet been notified so the medical examiner was not releasing his name.
