The next time one man attempts to steal a car, he may want to consider taking driving lessons first.

Sandy Springs police say a man attempted to carjack a woman, but didn’t know how to operate it, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“He got into her car and (the victim) said the car was revving,” Sandy Springs police spokesman Sgt. Mike Lindstrom said. “She described it as if he didn't know exactly what he was doing and trying to get it into gear.”

Lindstrom said the man reversed and hit a parked car.

The would-be thief left in a getaway car driven by an accomplice.

“It sounded like an attempted carjacking,” Lindstrom told the news station, “but the person didn't know how to drive a car apparently.”

Anyone with information on the alleged carjacking is asked to call Sandy Springs police.
