The mother and 14-month-old reported missing from Lenox Square were located safe Monday night at a DeKalb County motel, according to Atlanta police.
After nearly 10 hours of searching, the two were found together at a Motel 6, police said. From there, the boy was returned to state custody and his mother taken to the Fulton County jail, Officer Kim Jones said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation had issued a Levi’s Call alert to find the boy, identified as Ryan Alwadi, after he was reported missing from Lenox Square. Police said the boy’s mother may have been using Uber to travel, but it was not known late Monday if that’s how Sahar Alwadi and her son ended up in DeKalb.
The Division of Family and Children Services has custody of Ryan police said, and was conducting a supervised visit with his mother Monday morning at Lenox Square when Alwadi took Ryan and allegedly left the mall without permission.
Police said earlier Monday that Alwadi does not have a vehicle. Her address is listed on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs.
Alwadi’s charges were not released late Monday.
