Atlanta police are searching for a man who allegedly shot the mother of his children in front of them.

Trevor Montford, 28, shot 25-year-old Cordelia Swanigan while their three children were sitting in the back seat of a car in November 2017, according to the police report.

Swanigan told police she and Montford had been arguing about money when he shot her from inside the car at an apartment complex off Stanton Road.

According to Swanigan, Montford told her to tell police she was robbed and shot by a stranger. Swanigan initially complied out of fear Montford would hurt their children, but later identified Montford as the man who shot her, police said.

Montford faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and cruelty to children, which is a third-degree felony.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Using Crime Stoppers allows tipsters to remain anonymous, and be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
