A person suspected in an assault and a kidnapping was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon, police in Alpharetta said. The heavy police presence kept a major roadway between Alpharetta and Roswell blocked for hours.
The suspect was wanted on an assault warrant out of Roswell, Alpharetta police said. The suspect was also wanted in connection with a kidnapping in Alpharetta on Tuesday, police said.
Police did not believe there is any risk to the community.
An Alpharetta man on Tuesday told police officers he had been kidnapped at gunpoint, Channel 2 Action News reported. The man said the suspect drove him to a home in Roswell. He escaped and called police.
Police then tracked the suspected kidnapper to a home in Roswell, Channel 2 reported.
The North Fulton SWAT team was assembled at the Roswell location, the news station reported.
Old Roswell Road was closed in both directions between Warsaw Road and Commerce Parkway while police waited on a warrant to go inside the home.
Police were told the suspect might have weapons in the house. They kept the roadways in the area closed while they investigated.
