Police are investigating how a Clayton County high school student wound up dead in a woman’s front yard.

Keyontae Ross, 15, was found shot along the 1100 block of Kristen Cove in College Park, Clayton police spokeswoman Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said.  According to Channel 2 Action News, a neighbor discovered the body while backing out of a driveway.

“Clayton County fire and emergency services responded to the scene to assess and treat Ross, but determined that he was deceased,” Marbury said.

Ross was shot at least once, she said.

“It's awful,” neighbor Imogene Hills told Channel 2, “and then to know that that child laid out there all night long and it poured down raining.”

Ross attended North Clayton High School. No other details were released.

“I think it's terrible because we losing so many of our kids,” neighbor Quobobus Hunter said. “And the crime is just ridiculous. Something need to change."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Clayton County Det. Phelps at 678-222-8037.
