Jury selection resumes in hot car death trial

BRUNSWICKJury selection is underway in the trial of Justin Ross Harris, accused of intentionally leaving his son inside a hot car to die.

Four months ago, Superior Court Judge Mary Staley Clark determined a fair and impartial jury could not be picked in Cobb County. It took three weeks to select 41 jurors, from which 12 jurors and four alternates were to be chosen.

It’s not expected to take that long this time, as potential jurors in Glynn County have not been subjected to the onslaught of media coverage seen in metro Atlanta.

Questioning won’t begin until after lunch. Potential jurors with hardships that would prevent them from service are currently pleading their case before the judge.

Harris is charged with eight felonies, including three murder counts. Attorneys for the former Home Depot web developer say he mistakenly left Cooper in the car, calling it “a tragic accident.”
