Chamblee, not Brookhaven, gets first dibs on a valuable slice of commercial property, a DeKalb County judge ruled early Monday afternoon.

Superior Court Judge Tangela Barrie’s ruling means residents in neighborhoods next to the 100-acre Century Center office park will vote Tuesday on whether they – and the commercial area – want to become part of Chamblee.

Only if residents reject joining Chamblee can Brookhaven annex the office park at Clairmont Road and I-85, as it voted to do earlier this month, according to the ruling.

However, Brookhaven has already appealed to the state Supreme Court in anticipation of residents voting to join Chamblee.
