An overnight SWAT standoff in a neighborhood near Buford ended just after 4 a.m. with the suspect being peacefully taken into custody, police said.

Gwinnett County police said in an e-mail that the incident began just after 11 p.m. Friday when residents on Rolling Creek Drive reported hearing gunshots coming from a residence in the 3400 block.

When officers arrived, a man came out of the house, saying that someone inside had shot at him.

Police were able to get a woman out of the house, and she told officers that her boyfriend was still inside.

"She was able to provide information that led to police obtaining an arrest warrant for the male inside," police said in the e-mail.

After several hours, police were able to arrest the man with no injuries to him or officers.

Police have not released the suspects name or charges he is facing.
