A man is in the hospital after police in Cobb County shot him Sunday night, according to the GBI.
The shooting happened at a home in the 2600 block of Lone Oak Trail in Kennesaw. Police were called to the house about 6:15 p.m. after someone reported a domestic incident between a woman and her brother, according to Channel 2 Action News.
"As the officers arrived, they did see a suspect flee toward the basement," Kennesaw police spokesman Officer Scott Luther said.
When the man came back, he appeared to have a weapon with him, Luther said.
"He did present a threat and that's when the officer fired," Luther told Channel 2.
The man, identified by the GBI as Robert Thrash, 31, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No officers were injured, Luther said. He added that investigators found a weapon at the scene.
This is the 64th officer-involved shooting the GBI has been called in to investigate in 2019.
The last one happened when a Georgia man suspected of killing his wife and stabbing two others was shot by police in Toccoa. That suspect was taken into custody after police shot him Tuesday afternoon.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution also tracks officer-involved shootings that don't involve the GBI, and those numbers sometimes differ from the GBI's tally.
