A family is mourning a father who was killed in a wreck after a teenage driver allegedly borrowed her mother’s car without permission, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Chuan McKeever, affectionately called “C-Mac” by his friends and family, died Monday when a 16-year-old girl crashed into his truck head-on, Channel 2 reported.

The fatal wreck happened about 10 a.m. at the intersection of Flat Shoals Road and Guilford Lane in South Fulton, AJC.com previously reported. It was just hours after McKeever spent time with his 8-year-old daughter on Father’s Day, the news station reported.

Footage from NewsChopper 2 after the wreck showed McKeever’s badly damaged yellow work truck and the teen’s white minivan.

Friends were left in a state of disbelief when they learned about McKeever’s death, Channel 2 reported. Some couldn’t even speak when they found out.

“When I saw it on TV ... that’s not the truck that pulls up here in my yard,” Kerry Gates, a friend of McKeever, said of learning about the crash.

“Mac didn’t have an enemy,” Gates said. “I don’t think anybody disliked Mac. Everybody loved Mac.”

Police at the scene told Channel 2 the teen driver was on Flat Shoals Road when she became distracted and crashed. Channel 2 reported the girl was driving without a license.

Police have not officially confirmed the ages or identities of either driver involved.

The teen driver has not been charged in connection with the wreck. Channel 2 reported investigators are still trying to determine if she will be charged as an adult.

“She made an adult decision,” Gates said. “She needs to sit and understand that not only did she mess up her life, but she messed up the life of Mac, his daughter, his family, close friends, anyone who came into contact with him.”
