A man was shot and killed Tuesday in what appears to have been a robbery outside a gas station in Douglas County, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Deputies were sent to a Chevron at 1870 Lee Road on a call of shots fired with person down. There, they found a man in his 40s who had been shot.

The man’s death was the result of an apparent robbery, officials told Channel 2.

Nearby Lithia Springs High School and Sweetwater Elementary School were placed under a soft lockdown while officials investigated, Channel 2 reported. Those lockdowns were lifted in the afternoon.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The sheriff’s office released photos of multiple witnesses that investigators would like to speak with.
