DeKalb’s top cop steps down

DeKalb Public Safety Director William Miller, the county’s top law enforcement officer, will retire from the department at the end of the month, the county said in a Monday news release.

Miller, a 29-year career veteran of DeKalb police, rose from a patrolman to running the department.

“Mr. Miller has been outstanding in leading DeKalb County’s public safety efforts, and we appreciate his service to the county,” said DeKalb CEO Burrell Ellis. “We wish him the very best in his retirement.”

A replacement for Miller has not been named.
