A woman was arrested in Gainesville after leaving four children unattended and without food for more than 24 hours in a hotel, authorities said.

Selene Flores was charged with first-degree child cruelty after leaving the children, ages 3, 5, 9 and 12, at the Gainesville Budgetel Inn & Suites, Gainesville police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News.

Police were tipped off to the incident by hotel staff and patrons. Flores was booked into Hall County Jail on July 15 without bond, according to jail records. She also has a hold placed on her by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Officers purchased food for the children before they were handed over to the Division of Family and Children Services.
