A grand jury has decided against indicting Clayton County Police Chief Greg Porter on racketeering charges.

Clayton’s top cop appeared today before a Fayette County grand jury, which heard testimony about an investigation into a business Porter ran before he became police chief. Investigators allege Porter inflated bills he submitted for his part-time job monitoring participants in a court-ordered DUI program. But grand jurors decided the evidence presented to them did not warrant criminal charges..

Porter, his brother Robert Porter, his wife Sabrina Porter and Katrina Hood could have faced seven criminal counts: one count of racketeering and six counts of giving false statements and writing.
