A pickup truck drove into a Gwinnett County Goodwill store Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

Someone called 911 just after 3 p.m. and said a vehicle crashed into the front of the building, Gwinnett fire spokesman Donald Strother said.

The area outside the store in the 1200 block of Rockbridge Road near Stone Mountain was taped off while police investigated.

The vehicle came to a complete stop when it hit a concrete wall at the back of the store.

Fire crews arrived to find a vehicle that had driven through the glass and aluminum beams of the store, he said. The truck came to a stop when it hit a concrete wall at the back of the store.

The driver wasn’t injured, nor were any of the customers or employees inside the store, Strother said. The driver was evaluated at the scene and taken to a hospital as a precaution, he said.

Greta Taylor, who works next door, told AJC.com she came out of her shop to find the pickup truck had driven all the way through the store.

She said the driver of the truck, a 76-year-old woman, complained of pain in her chest when customers and employees pulled her out of the vehicle.

“It was really traumatic,” Taylor said. “It was a traumatic situation.”

Fire officials said the building’s structural integrity was not compromised by the damage.
