UPDATE SEPT. 22:

Late Saturday afternoon, the Butts County Sheriff's Office announced that investigators have arrested two individuals in connection with a body found Friday morning at the entrance to a Butts County subdivision near Jackson.

The victim was identified as Curtis Pitts, 31, of Cartersville.

The investigation has so far determined that neither the victim nor the suspects had any ties to the Butts County community.

The press release from the sheriff's office said, "At this time we will not be releasing names of those arrested or any additional information due to the continuing investigation."

A body was found Friday morning at the entrance to a Butts County subdivision near Jackson, authorities said.

Butts County sheriff’s deputies and GBI investigators are looking into the death as a homicide, according to the state agency.

The body was found “with multiple gunshot wounds” about 6:15 a.m. at the entrance of the Jackson Glen neighborhood off Ga. 36 West, GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said. The subdivision is about two miles from I-75.

“We are currently investigating a homicide that appears to have been brought in off of I-75,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook. “While the case is still being investigated, it does not appear to have any connections with the Jackson Glen subdivision.”

Authorities said they could not release any further details as the GBI is still processing the scene.
