A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a shooting along Buford Highway, Brookhaven police said today.

The teenager, whose name was not released because of his age, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a handgun by a minor and carrying a handgun without a license, according to Major Brandon Gurley. He is being held at the DeKalb Regional Youth Detention Center, Gurley said.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday, officers responded to the 3200 block of Buford Highway on a report of shots being fired, Gurley said. Officers were unable to locate a shooting victim at the scene, but later learned of a male being treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg, according to police.

This morning, search warrants were executed at the alleged suspect’s home in the Regency Woods complex, Gurley said. The teen was arrested in his apartment.
