The GBI is investigating after a body was found at a construction site in northeast Georgia, authorities confirmed.

The body was found Monday on McCreery Road in Jefferson, Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum said in a statement. She said someone reported the discovery to the sheriff’s office around 8:30 a.m.

The investigation was handed over to the GBI.

“No information will be released until the investigation is complete and upon notification of the next of kin,” Mangum said.
